Most of us are familiar with the dandelion flower, also known as the “puffball.” It is known for its many beneficial effects, as well as for the way the leaves surrounding the flower head open when the seeds ripen, making the seeds visible. If we blow on them strongly, the seeds scatter in all directions.
The flower continues to live on through its seeds, leaving behind memories that multiply.
The more memories someone leaves behind, the more they are remembered. Like the dandelion’s seeds, what we leave behind can be carried far and wide, sprouting new life in fertile soil.
It matters what kind of seed we plant!
It would be uplifting if we could only see love. And just like the dandelion flower, we could spread the seeds of love we’ve nurtured in every direction, carried by the wind.
Creating Love and Abundance
Jesus taught about sowing seeds in a parable (Matthew, 13). In the story, a sower went out to sow. Some seeds fell on the path, only to be eaten by birds. Others fell on rocky ground, where they sprouted but, lacking soil, were scorched by the sun. Still others fell among thorns, and when the thorns grew, they choked the plants. But the seeds that fell on good soil produced an great harvest.
The message of this story is that when someone truly hears and understands divine teachings, they can create a loving abundance around themselves. This is why it is so important to focus on what truly matters and to be mindful of the seeds we sow.
